US Blocks Chinese Tankers at Hormuz: Ships Flying Fake Flags Turned Away

The US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is already impacting global oil flows, as at least two Chinese oil tankers have reportedly been turned away, according to MarineTraffic data.
The vessels were allegedly attempting to disguise their identity by flying false flags - one under Malawi and the other under Botswana, both landlocked nations - raising suspicions of sanction evasion.
The US Navy has stated it is targeting ships linked to countries importing Iranian oil, tightening pressure on Tehran’s key buyers. China, which purchases more than 80% of Iran’s sanctioned oil, is now directly affected by these enforcement measures.
